Floods, mudslides, tsunami, conflict are just a few of the many humanitarian emergencies that Christian Aid partners
have responded to over the past year.
This week, in our groups, meetings and homes, pray to give thanks for our effective, fast, long-term and community-led approach to emergencies and for our sister agencies in the Act Alliance who we work through when we don’t have partners immediately in the area affected. Give thanks for our emergency churches, those churches who have signed up to receive collection envelopes and prayer points in the immediate aftermath of an emergency. Pray that more churches would come onboard. [From the Christian Aid Prayer Diary.]
We pray also for Sheila Crowley’s pastoral group: Margaret Beard; Stuart and Margaret Blackwell; Ron Cheshire; Vivien Evans; Christine Gillett; Rob Glassonbury; Brian Hanna; Gillian Harbige; Barbara Parkinson; Nancy Rountree; Pauline Thewlis; Jo Webb; Jake, Charlotte and Grace Wright; Margaret Waters; Margaret Wheeler. Amen.

Please give generously to All We Can’s urgent Malawi Floods Appeal. All We Can and The Methodist Church in Britain have launched an urgent appeal to support the people of Malawi following devastating flooding and cyclone in March 2019. Your donation could provide vital food supplies for families that have suffered great loss. We shall be holding retiring collections on the next two Sundays – 31 March and 7 April. Your donations will be added to the church’s donation from its Emergency Relief Fund.
Code Change – Wesley Centre Gate: The code to open the gates into the car park will be changed from 1 April. Everyone who is authorised to have this code will be notified individually. If you have not received this notice by 31 March please contact Kathleen Wharton by phone or email – 01270 443547; firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anita Gear thanks everyone who helped with her dad’s (Arthur Wrather’s) funeral. The donations requested in lieu of flowers to the British Heart Foundation amounted to £170·00.
Our annual General Church Meeting this year will be on Sunday 12th May. So that they can be collated, printed and distributed before the meeting, please let me have your reports by 7th April.
Lent Study Course on Prayer: We are using Tom Wright’s book, ‘New Testament Prayer for Everyone’ to help us explore what prayer is and how we can pray more effectively. We meet on Thursday mornings at 9:45 for coffee in the Henshall Room of the Wesley Centre and the session will be from 10:00am to 11:15am. The first of 5 sessions was on March 14th. The same session will be repeated in the evening at Haslington Methodist Church at 7:00pm. For further details, ask Jeremy.
